Cooking Steps
- Rinse and soak: Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. If you have time, soak them in water for 6–8 hours or overnight. This step is optional but helps reduce cooking time and improves texture.
- Add to Instant Pot: Drain the chickpeas (if soaked) and add them to the Instant Pot. Pour in 3 cups of water and add salt if desired.
- Set the cooking mode: Close the lid and set the valve to “Sealing.” Cook on High Pressure for:
- Soaked chickpeas: 15–20 minutes
- Unsoaked chickpeas: 35–40 minutes
- Release pressure: Once the cooking cycle is complete, let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes, then carefully do a quick release.
- Drain and use: Drain the chickpeas — they’re ready to use in your favorite dishes like salads, hummus, or curries.
