Cooking Steps

  1. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
  2. Sift cake flour with salt and nutmeg. Add alternately to the creamed mixture with brandy.
  3. Refrigerate the dough for several hours.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out very thin. Cut into fancy shapes (bells, stars, Christmas trees, etc.).
  5. Brush with egg white or beaten egg mixed with a little water. Sprinkle with ground nuts mixed with sugar, or colored sugars.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about 15 minutes.
