Cooking Principles
- Golden garlic: Sauté garlic until golden before adding — this is the flavor base for the rice.
- Don’t stir after layering: Place marinated chicken on top of rice without stirring to ensure even cooking.
- Marinate at least 15 min: Longer marination gives the chicken more flavor and tenderness.

Cooking Steps
- Chop chicken into pieces and set aside in a bowl.
- Mince the garlic.
- Heat oil in the Instant Pot on Sauté mode. Sauté garlic until golden.
- Slice ginger into matchsticks. Add to the chicken.
- Add cornstarch, oyster sauce, salt, flavor enhancers, and pepper to the chicken. Mix well and marinate for 15–30 minutes.
- Add rice and water into the rice cooker or Instant Pot.
- Add the sautéed garlic to the rice.
- Place marinated chicken on top of the rice. Do not stir.
- Cook until done (use the rice setting).
- Chop green onions and mix well with the rice before serving.
